Horror under Fluorescents, part 6

***part 6***


    Billy spun on Louis, "What the hell?" he shouted.
    Louis and Martin both shushed him, an d Martin put his hand on Billy's shoulder.
    "He right, Billy."
    Martin looked at Louis, tears still streaming down his face, and nodded.
    "Got it, only a survivor right?
    "I'm Sorry Martin, if there was another way..." Louis let the sentence die, His eyes also showing discomfort.
    Martin shook his head and wiped his eyes, "I think i'm beginning to understand how some of this works...It has to do with common and personal fears, doesn't it?" He sighed and waved the others on towards the singing. Louis grimaced a little smile and he also sighed as began walking.
    "That's the beginning of understanding, my friend, there are a lot of other reasons but the baser Demons all work through either fear or seduction."
    Billy stared at them as if they had grown extra heads. "Wha? How do you mean?"
    The group entered a thin alleyway that was scrupulously clean and kept moving towards the sound. They were almost to the end the alleyway before either spoke.
    "It's about our survival instincts and using our fears against us." Said Martin.
    Billy nodded but obviously didn't get it.
    "Billy, why did fight that Filth Demon?" Louis asked suddenly
    "Well...we had to help those people," Billy stopped abruptly then spun back towards the Walmart, "Dudes! We left th, those..."
    Louis slammed Billy against the wall, covering the boys mouth with his hand. "They wasn't there! it wasn't real Billy! Don't you get it?"
    A muffled "but" emerged the shocked boy. 'Louis was really strong, and fast! But it doesn't make sense?' he thought all at the same time.
    "how could they not be there?" he mumbled when Louis let him go.
    Martin smiled to himself and patted Billy on the arm.
    "Illusions, to draw us in."
    "Like what a magicians does?"
    "close enough for government work, Billy" laughed Martin quietly. "Now, men, we got a Demon to kill and children to save, let's get this carnival sideshow rocking." Strangely Martin felt a lot better after helping Billy understand.
    "I've give you 1 in 10." Said a female voice behind them.
    All three spun with weapons raised. At the far end of the alley slithered a woman, well mostly. The top half was quite attractive, even while holding a vicious looking barbed spear. The lower half was that of a snake, it's numerous coils pushing her towards the trio.
    "Oh Hell, we are in deep now my friends." rumbled Louis.
    "Not comforting Louis, what is she?"
    "A creature of seduction and destruction, her name is Nyacalyssa, she helped the morning star corrupt places like Sodom."
    "Like the city in the Bible?" said Martin incredulously
    "You're standing with an Angel holding a Holy sword, fighting Demons and you're having problems believing a book could talk about real events?" Said Nyacalyssa, pausing. "Where did you find these two Lucius? I mean the sheer lack of know how and knowledge is incredible, the other one is yelling his head off and this ones am idiot."
     Louis waved the men to lower there weapons and smiled at the Snake-lady.
    "Sporting goods at Walmart, and they were the better than I could have hoped for." He waved at the two men on down the alleyway. "Get gone you two, you can't help here."
    "Oh no, no, no, I'm not here to fight you Lucius. Boys you stay put!" She waved her hand in a odd gesture and Martin suddenly couldn't move. Billy raised his rifle and growled.
    "Let him go fiend!"
    The Demoness looked shocked and stared at Louis, "An immune?"
      "I think so, and the other is a survivor." Louis grinned at her.
    The Demoness cat ears swiveled and she looked Martin in a way that made him sweat, "Very well boy, I'll relent, just this once mind you." she waved her hand a Martin dropped to the ground.
    Billy lowered his rifle just slightly and asked, "So what do we do now?"
    She smiled at the Trio, "easy, I'm going with you, call me Lyssa." 
    "Well Shit!" said Billy
